I was thinking of the Archangel Gabrielle when I painted this. I often feed the birds that come into my bedroom window, and it always reminds me of how people always say that angels have wings.
Additionally, Picasso very often painted pigeons in his youth. It was because of one of those paintings that the dove became a symbol for world peace.
